The Natural History Museum of Utah is seeking a part-time Events Support Staff member to handle complete setup and teardown of events and to provide on-site support during events. Typical events include dinners, weddings, and corporate galas, with 10 to 1400 guests, mostly in the evenings and on weekends.
Responsibilities include monitoring key locations during events, assisting guests and vendors with exceptional service, and attending staff meetings.
The Events Support Staff team provides all the set-up and tear-downof events held at the museum. This team is also the on-site supportduring the full run of the event. The Museum will host an averageof 3 events each week. Types of events include but are not limitedto evening dinners, weddings, holiday parties, daytime retreats,board meetings, museum festivals, corporate galas, etc. The size ofthese events can range from 10 guests to 1400 guests. The EventsSupport Staff team is an integral part of the success of all eventsat the Natural History Museum of Utah. We also place a strongemphasis on providing an exceptional experience to every guest whovisits the museum or participates in any of our programs. Webelieve that everyone at NHMU, at every level and in alldepartments, are a critical part of providing this level ofexperience. Therefore, all staff members receive ongoing trainingand are expected to consistently contribute to creatingexceptional, and memorable experiences for our guests, partners,and the community.
Primary responsibilities are: the complete set-up and take-down ofevents; during the event, staff will monitor key locations in themuseum for event activity, according the event type; additionalsupport/tasks assigned as needed. Position requires near constantmovement and lifting of tables, chairs, and other furniture. Mustbe comfortable lifting more than 25 pounds. Responsibilities alsoinclude but are not limited to: providing museum guests &staff, caterers, and additional vendors with exceptional customerservice; receiving ongoing training of museum policies andprocedures through museum meetings and activities; attend EventsSupport staff meetings; other duties as assigned.
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).
Weekends and evenings availability REQUIRED. Previous eventindustry and customer service experience strongly preferred
