Store - LANSING-DELTA TOWNSHIP, MI

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks like answering emails, making calls, and completing paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards, including setup, cleanup, and breakdown of events.
Customer Experience
  • Assist customers with shopping, locating products, and providing solutions.
  • Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers about Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and assist with enrollments.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys.
  • Support Omni channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unloads, stocking, and planogram processes.
  • Perform merchandise recovery and store maintenance.
  • Support Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to SOPs and company policies, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Promote a respectful, positive environment and serve as a role model.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience with children and children’s events.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal).
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Mobility throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves.
  • Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
