Job summary

Denver Art Museum is seeking an Event Work Crew member for part-time, non-exempt work to assist in setup and breakdown of museum events. Responsibilities include delivering and arranging equipment, loading/unloading trucks, light cleaning, and supporting various museum event teams.

The role requires basic math, strong guest service, and professional conduct. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment setup and delivery such as tables, chairs, stage etc.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
  • Light cleaning duties as required (carpets, floors, bathrooms).
  • Take direction from Managers, Supervisors, Technicians, and support services staff for setup/tear-down.
  • Provide support to Event Supervisor, Catering Services, Event Programming, for event logistics.
  • Execute general warehouse-type work (organizing, loading/unloading, moving equipment).
  • Complete smaller tasks within the museum with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure storage areas are clean, safe, and organized.

The Event Work Crew position primarily assists in the setup and breakdown of Denver Art Museum (DAM) events such as weddings, birthdays, exhibitions, corporate events, etc. to help create a world class experience for guests. Duties include, but are not limited to equipment delivery and setup, loading and unloading trucks, light cleaning duties, and stage setup/strike/maintenance. This position may also assist the Facilities team in tasks involving maintenance, furniture moving, and sign installation, and will provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and the museum as required.

What You’ll Do:

Qualifications
What We’re Looking for:
  • Previous event set-up/break-down and/or equipment experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills for determining placement of items within the venue space.
  • Show a demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to take direction/receive instruction as part of the facilities team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail focused on quality and service.
  • Can take the initiative, exercise good judgment; can prioritize work and adapt as needed.
  • Ability to represent The Denver Art Museum in a professional manner with guests and vendors at all times.
  • High school diploma (or GED) preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of prior experience working with event set up and logistics preferred.
  • Can operate effectively in an intense and dynamic guest service environment, and respond/interact with guests and vendors in a manner consistent with Denver Art Museum standards
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to deal with outside elements such as wind, rain, snow, and heat.
  • Have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
  • Have the ability to reach overhead, and bend, squat/kneel.
