Job summary

Biltmore is seeking two Special Events - Work Crew members to support setup and breakdown of events such as illumination, concerts, exhibitions, and corporate functions. The role involves handling lighting, rigging, equipment delivery, unloading/loading trucks, and warehouse upkeep.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma (or GED), 1+ year in event/installation work, strong safety focus, and excellent guest service skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up rental equipment and verify quality matches expectations.
• Follow directions from work orders, emails, or phone communications.
• Rig lighting and decor up to 25 lbs and power up to 20 amps.
• Safely operate a warehouse forklift and elevating lifts (up to 30 ft).
• Maintain safety standards and adapt to dynamic event environments.

Job Description

The Special Events - Work Crew - 2 position primarily assists in the setup and breakdown of Biltmore events such as illumination, concerts, exhibitions, corporate events etc. during peak event seasons to help create a world class experience for guests. Duties include, but are not limited to landscape & structure illumination, equipment delivery and setup, loading and unloading trucks, warehouse maintenance, and exhibition setup/strike/maintenance. Position may also provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and the company as required

Essential Job Duties

• All that are detailed in and for Special Events Crew 1, and …
• Properly and safely operate a box truck.
• Provide friendly, professional service to internal customers and guests.
• Setup rental equipment and test/ensure quality matches company expectations upon arrival.
• Must be able to understand and execute direction given from a workorder, email, phone, etc.
• Rigging items that are 25lbs and under such as small chandeliers, bistro lighting, and other decor.
• Running and connecting power requirements up to 20 amps.
• Safely operate a warehouse forklift.
• Safely operate a scissor and/or boom lift (single basket) up to a 30’ electric machine

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred.
• At least one (1) year of prior experience working with event and/or exhibit set up and illumination preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing world class internal/external guest service.
• Solid interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; must be able to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Excellent attention to detail with focus on quality, service, and safety.
• Strong time management and organizational skills; can multi-task and adapt as required.
• Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.
• Proactive, and exercises good judgment; can troubleshoot as needed.
• Can operate effectively in an intense and dynamic guest service environment, and respond/interact with guests and vendors in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and must be at least 19 years of age

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to climb, and work from, ladders, lifts, stairs, and/or scaffolding. Must be able to work for extended periods of time from elevated heights.
• Ability to reach overhead, bend and squat/kneel often.
• Ability to work effectively (indoors and outdoors) with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions, using the proper safety and protective equipment.
