Job summary

MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas seeks an Event Staff Lead to oversee event setup and teardown, manage timelines, and ensure safety and client satisfaction. You will assign tasks to staff and outside labor, troubleshoot onsite issues with management, and stay current on design trends and inventory; a strong lead experience and theatre/event background are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in events or theatres.
• 2+ years of theatre or event-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign on-site setup/teardown tasks to Event Staff and outside labor, ensuring safe handling of items.
• Ensure décor, props, furniture and other items are set up/teardown on schedule and meet client expectations.
• Troubleshoot onsite technical, creative and timeline issues with management.
• Develop knowledge of hotel/venue locations and loading dock procedures; enforce safety policies.
• Operate company vans, trucks and lifts safely; report maintenance needs.
• Monitor inventory of tools, equipment and vehicles; document theft or damage.
• Stay current on design trends and inventory; inspire creativity and practice best methods.

THE JOB:

It is the primary responsibility of the Event Staff Lead to provide specialized oversite in the planning and lead the Event Staff in the execution of event set up and tear down, maintaining timelines and ensuring all event related tasks are completed in an efficient and safe manner, and meet client expectations and company standards.

THE STARTING RATE

$23.50 per hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Assign on site set up and tear down tasks to Event Staff and outside labor, monitoring and enforcing proper handling techniques for all items to prevent damage and loss.
• Ensure that all décor, props, furniture and other event related items are set up and torn down in an efficient, timely manner, adhering to all timelines and safety standards, venues are left in SHOW ready condition and client expectations are met.
• Anticipate, troubleshoot and solve onsite technical, creative and timeline issues in conjunction with management and onsite Project Management.
• Develop in depth knowledge of hotel and venue locations, loading dock locations and procedures, and make sure safety and security policies are followed.
• Operate company vans, trucks, and lifts in a safe manner, notify management of any gas and maintenance needs.
• Monitor handling and condition of company tools, inventory, equipment and vehicles, document and report theft, loss and damage.
• Stay current in design trends, technology, prop and design elements as well as specialty decor technique and assembly and usage. Inspire creativity, model best practices. Be familiar with owned inventory as well as vendor items.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2+ Years of Prior Relevant supervisor or lead position experience
• 2+ Years of Prior Relevant theatre or event related experience
