What the role involves:
As the Event Social Media Strategist for IOG, you will lead the strategy and execution of planned real-time, event-based social content across key platforms. From global blockchain trade shows, to traditional finance conferences, Web3 summits, and beyond, you'll translate the energy and insight of live moments into engaging, brand-aligned content that resonates with both industry insiders and new audiences alike.
Reporting to the External Communications Leader, the Event Social Media Strategist will collaborate with teams across social media, digital marketing, events, product, and research to identify, curate, and distribute content aligned with the organization's mission to transform global financial and digital systems. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, content development expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all external channels.
Event & live coverage strategy
- Develop social media playbooks for live event coverage, including content themes, tone of voice, hashtag strategy and use, and real-time engagement tactics
- Plan and execute platform-specific coverage for key events
- Partner with the External Communications Manager to ensure on-site support for capturing live content
- Develop and test new formats or channels (e.g. Threads, TikTok, X Spaces, Discord AMAs) tied to event goals
- Drive innovation in live storytelling and experimenting with influencer takeovers, real-time polls, or interactive elements
- Partner with the Data & Insights team to create predictive social media dashboards that inform content direction and refine strategy in real-time
Content creation & publishing
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create content before, during, and after events
- Coordinate with designers, copywriters, and video production teams to produce high-quality creative assets
- Ensure all social media assets for events aligns with the overall communications strategy
- Help amplify executive social media strategies and thought leadership tactics to elevate all senior leaders
- Stay up-to-date with social media and event technology trends, identifying when and where IOG should implement new channels or strategies into its event social media playbook
Community engagement & real-time moderation
- Drive live conversation during events, partnering with Legal to ensure all live engagement strategies adhere to legal guidelines
- Monitor event hashtags and trending topics in collaboration with the Data & Insights team
- Identify key community members, influencers, and media—where appropriate—and implement engagement strategies through influencer programs
Analytics & reporting
- Set and track metrics to assess effectiveness of IOG's social strategy for events
- Regularly report on results and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
Requirements
Who you are:
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in social media, with at least 2 years of prior experience in event social media strategies
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and thought leadership content
- Familiarity working in a distributed team experience, while collaborating across verticals to produce exceptional results
- Understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) and how each platform can be leveraged to deliver against company goals
- Possess an entrepreneurial attitude and a genuine passion for the Web3 space
- Proven experience as a Social Media Strategist, ideally with a strong focus on live events, or brand storytelling
- Experience covering conferences, tech events, or product launches on social media
- Proficient in managing multiple social channels under fast-paced conditions
- An understanding of communication trends in the technology or venture capital sector

Benefits
IOG is a fully remote organization but due to team distribution, we require someone to be based in the United States.
The base salary for this position has a range of $110 up to $130k per year at the commencement of employment. Any offer is determined by overall experience and performance during the interview process. This is only part of the total compensation package.
