Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking a Community Builder to oversee maintenance for city buildings and equipment with a focus on setting up and monitoring events. This role reports to a supervisor and emphasizes hands-on event support.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year in janitorial work involving public contact; a Florida driver's license is required. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set-up and clean-up after events and activities.
  • Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.
  • Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in event of emergency.
  • Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.
  • Enforces strict applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.
  • Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
