Job summary

City of Gainesville, FL is seeking a Community Builder to support maintenance and setup for city events, facilities, and equipment. The role reports to a supervisor and focuses on event setup and monitoring with strong emphasis on safety and public interaction.

The position requires a high school diploma and janitorial experience with public contact, and a valid Florida driver's license. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required as part of event coverage.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set-up and clean-up after events and activities.
  • Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.
  • Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in event of emergency.
  • Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.
  • Enforces strict applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.
  • Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
