Job summary

Hot Springs Convention Center is seeking an entry-level team member to set up and strike events, clean interior and exterior spaces, and maintain an orderly facility. The role includes nights and weekends based on events, with an emphasis on quality guest service.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred; 1–3 years experience preferred.
  • Must read and follow instructions; basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather; some nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Set up chairs, tables and stands per function specifications.
  • Break down equipment after events and store for future use.
  • Clean interior and exterior of the Center; maintain orderly conditions.
  • Greet guests professionally; keep banquet/meeting rooms clean.
  • Transport trash to disposal area and replenish bathroom supplies.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with basic duties as needed.

Job description

Entry Level Position at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Looking for applicants who can work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends. Great facility and great team members! Excellent benefits include free medical and dental insurance plus enrollment in the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System. Generally 40 hours per week with occasional overtime. Schedules are based on events booked into the convention center and Bank OZK Arena. We looking for a team-player with good attitude and a strong work ethic.

This full time employee's main duties are to set-up and strike events according to function specifications; to clean the interior and exterior of the Center and maintain them in an orderly condition.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Sets up chairs, tables and stands according to function specifications.
  • Following functions breaks down equipment and furniture for storage or use in additional functions.
  • Picks up debris from perimeter, grounds and parking lots. Helps maintain cleanliness of sidewalks, including snow removal. Operates blowers, edger, and mowers to maintain the grounds.
  • Greets guests in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Maintains ongoing cleanliness of banquet and meeting rooms.
  • Sweeps, vacuums and cleans banquet/meeting rooms and halls as required.
  • Maintains banquet supplies and equipment stock in satisfactory working order.
  • Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, stairways, offices and other work areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors, using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies, using vacuum cleaner.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
  • Washes walls, ceilings and woodwork.
  • Washes windows, door panels and sills.
  • Empties wastebaskets, empties and cleans ashtrays.
  • Collects trash in such areas as hallways, corridors, storerooms and any other area indicated by management. Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Assists Maintenance Technicians with basic maintenance duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management, which could include assisting in duties that are not typical to this position.
Minimum Experience, Skills or Education Required:
  • High school education or equivalent preferred; one to three years' experience preferred.
  • Specific Vocational Preparations preferred, which include an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the-job training or essential experience in less responsible jobs, which lead to higher jobs, or serving in other jobs.
  • Must have mathematical development sufficient to be able to add and subtract. Must have developed language skills to be able to read at a minimum level, print simple sentences and speak simple sentences. Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to judge readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
  • Must be able to use body members, tools or special devices to work, move, guide or place objects or materials. This would involve some latitude for judgement with regard to precision attained and selection of appropriate tool, object or material, although this is readily manifest.
  • Must be able to use hands to lift, carry or pull objects that may be heavy.
  • Must be able to interpret simple room layout drawings.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Must be able to learn simple procedures and techniques.
  • Must be able to perform routine or the same task over and over again.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods.
Physical Demands:

Physical Demands: Lifting 50 lbs. With frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Reaching. Handling. Fingering. Feeling. Seeing. Climbing. Balancing. Stooping. Kneeling. Crouching. Crawling.

Working Conditions:

Working Conditions: This employee works both inside and outside – the work activities occur inside and outside in approximately equal amounts. Position may require work during nights, weekends and holidays. There may be sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction.
