Job summary

Hot Springs Convention Center is seeking a maintenance technician to perform repair and upkeep of the facility and equipment. The role emphasizes adherence to standards and active participation in routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical work, HVAC support, and general repairs. The candidate should have 1–3 years of experience, read blueprints, and be able to lift up to 100 lbs while maintaining a guest-ready environment.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent; one to three years experience preferred.
  • Boilers license obtained or ability to obtain in Arkansas.
  • Mathematical ability to handle units of measure and follow instructions.
  • Read and interpret facility drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the Convention Center and related properties using hand and power tools.
  • Replaces air-conditioner filters and changes light bulbs.
  • Notifies management about major repairs to lighting or HVAC systems.
  • Assists with furnace, A/C and boiler operation to provide climate control.
  • Assists with plumbing repairs and tile/wallboard/carpentry work as needed.
  • Keeps CMMS and work orders up to date and on schedule.
  • Greets guests courteously and performs duties as assigned.

Job description

Hot Springs Convention Center is looking for a maintenance technician. Need a team player who appreciates working in a facility that is well-maintained and updated. Pay starts at $16/hour.

Job Summary:

This employee's main duties are the repair and maintenance of the physical structure of the Convention Center and equipment according to established standards.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status:

Nonexempt, Hourly

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains the Convention Center and associated properties, performing routine plumbing, electrical/event wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
  • Replaces air-conditioner filters.
  • Changes light bulbs.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, ventilating equipment.
  • Uses basic hand and power tools required for general maintenance.
  • Maintains the Center areas to meet inspection standards.
  • Assists with the tending of furnace, air-conditioner and boiler to provide heat, cool air and hot water for the Center.
  • Assists with the general repair and replacement of all types of plumbing systems.
  • Assists with all in-house repairs consisting of removing/ replacing tile, wallboard, carpentry, etc.
  • Ensures CMMS and facility management work orders and service orders are completed on time.
  • Greets guests in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Performs duties and functions as assigned by management, which could include duties that are not typical to this position.
Minimum Experience, Skills or Education Required:
  • High school education or equivalent preferred; one to three years' experience preferred.
  • One-year building maintenance experience and/or vocational training preferred.
  • Must have mathematical development sufficient to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Must have developed language skills to be able to read at a minimum level, print simple sentences and speak simple sentences. Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to compile, collate or classify information about data, people or things. Must be able to report and/or carry out a prescribed action in relation to information. Must be able to read and interpret facility drawings and blueprints.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Must either have obtained or be able to obtain a boilers license in the State of Arkansas.
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays as required by schedule.
  • Must be able to use body members and/or tools or work aids to work, move, guide or place objects or materials in situations where ultimate responsibility for the attainment of standards occurs and selection of appropriate tools, objects or materials and the adjustment of the tool to the task require exercise of considerable judgment.
Physical Demands:

Lifting 100 lbs. With frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Reaching. Handling. Fingering. Feeling. Seeing. Climbing. Balancing. Stooping. Kneeling. Crouching. Crawling.

Working Conditions:

This employee works both inside and outside - the work activities occur inside and outside in approximately equal amounts. This position will require duty during nights, weekends and holidays. There may be sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent, to cause marked distraction.
