Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Execute venue setups and breakdowns per requested form.
  • Install and dismantle pipe-and-drape systems and other equipment per venue specs.
  • Assist vendors with arrival directions, unloading, booth setup, and parking.
  • Replenish restroom consumables and keep dispensers stocked.
  • Maintain clean floors; sweep, mop, vacuum; promptly identify and clean spills.
  • Staff concession area, handle payments and provide correct change.
  • Prepare outdoor sites, including walking and maneuvering on uneven terrain.
  • Regularly patrol premises and remove litter; manage waste disposal.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Facility Lead and/or the Event Lead, the employee in this position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks of limited complexity. The ability to receive, interpret and follow oral and/or written instructions and lift and carry is required. Supervision and instruction are given on new or difficult assignments. This position involves frequent public contact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Execute venue setups and breakdowns, ensuring tables and chairs are placed per requested form;
  • Execute the installation and dismantling of pipe-and-drape systems, and any other equipment with venue specifications;
  • Assist vendors with arrival directions such as, unloading, booth set-up, and parking;
  • Assist vendors with questions regarding facility;
  • Replenish restroom consumables, including paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap, ensuring dispensers are stocked;
  • Maintain clean and orderly flooring by sweeping, dry/wet mopping, and vacuuming all common areas, hallways, and restroom floors;
  • Promptly identify and clean spills, stains, and debris to ensure a safe, slip-free environment;
  • Staff concession area, ensuring accurate payment collection, and proper change return;
  • Prepare outdoor event sites, which requires walking, standing, and maneuvering on uneven, or rocky terrain for extended periods;
  • Regularly patrol, identify, and remove litter from all indoor and outdoor premises;
  • Manage waste disposal by transporting, and emptying into dumpsters.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Other related duties as necessary or required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age;
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and health assessment;
  • Pass a criminal background check;
  • Possess and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License or provide own transportation to and from the facility.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Experience: This is an entry level position. Any variety of experience and skills will be helpful.

Education: This position does not have a minimum educational requirement.

Skills: Bilingual is beneficial but not required. Ability to operate basic hand tools, a broom, mop and calculator is helpful. Employee will be taught required skills and will be expected to retain that instruction.

Problem Solving: No problem solving exists in this position. Duties follow prescribed policies and procedures.

Decision Making: Limited decision-making exists in this position. Duties follow prescribed policies and procedures.

Accountability: Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department and does not participate in the annual budget process.

Supervision: Supervision is provided several times daily and the supervisor reviews all job related decisions. Employee does not have supervisory responsibility over subordinate personnel.

Personal Relations: Frequent contact with other county departments, and the general public requiring ability to communicate and relate in a positive and effective manner.

Working Conditions: Position requires indoor and outdoor work depending on the event requirements. Late nights and weekends are common. Event set up and tear down is typically during the week days, but can be adjusted as needed. Must have the ability to wear personal protection equipment when necessary or required.
