Job summary

Oregon Metro’s Portland Expo Center is seeking an Event Operations Manager to provide on-site leadership during evenings and weekends for a variety of large-scale events. You will coordinate staff, contractors, and event partners to ensure safety, welcoming service, and flawless execution.

The role requires a solutions-focused mindset, comfort leading teams in a fast-paced setting, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus specialized training considered.
• Three years of relevant experience in event/venue/hotel management.
• Two years of supervisory experience or equivalent.
• Combination of education, professional, volunteer, and lived experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee evening and weekend venue operations, ensuring safety and welcome for staff, clients, and guests.
• Serve as primary on-site escalation point for staff and client concerns; produce reports.
• Coordinate client services during events (catering, A/V, parking) and support load-in/out.
• Provide leadership and coaching to staff; adapt plans to meet client/venue needs.
• Participate in event planning and logistics meetings and reviews of operations.
• Monitor costs related to labor, supplies, and materials to maintain service quality.
