Job summary

Metro is seeking an Event Operations Manager for the Portland Expo Center, based in Oregon. You’ll lead on-site operations during evenings and weekends, coordinating staff, contractors, and partners to deliver safe, welcoming events that meet client needs.

You’ll serve as the escalation point, manage client services, and support planning meetings while coaching teams and driving process improvements in a fast-paced venue environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus at least one year of specialized training.
• Three years of relevant experience in event, venue or hotel management.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee evening and weekend venue operations, ensuring safety and guest readiness.
• Serve as primary escalation point for staff and client concerns during shifts.
• Coordinate client services during events and support load-in/out activities.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to staff and managers.
• Participate in event planning and logistics meetings and drive improvements.
• Monitor costs related to labor, supplies and materials to sustain service quality.
