Job summary

A leading motorsport organization is seeking Corner Workers to monitor track conditions and communicate with drivers using flags. Ideal candidates should be bilingual in English and Spanish, possess a high school diploma, and have a keen knowledge of racing. Qualifications

Job description

Homestead‑Miami Speedway has been open since 1995 following an initiative to spur economic recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. The Speedway, founded by Miami businessman, racing enthusiast and philanthropist Ralph Sanchez, is a 650‑acre facility that features a 1.5‑mile oval and 2.21‑mile road course. The Speedway hosts on‑track events nearly 300 days per year and generates more than $301 million annually for the region. NASCAR crowned champions in all three of its national series at Homestead‑Miami Speedway for 18 straight years (2002‑19). In 2023, the Speedway hosts the second race in the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs on Sunday, Oct. 22. In August of 2022, Homestead‑Miami Speedway unveiled a new, colorfully designed logo that showcases the venue’s sense of place and incredible competition while incorporating all that South Florida has to offer, from the vibrancy of South Beach to the tranquility of the Keys. Using a combination of pink, blue, yellow, light and dark turquoise—colors specific to the culture of South Florida—the new Homestead‑Miami Speedway highlights regional and cultural flair of color, speed, and intense, off‑the‑chart racing that is unique to Miami.

Corner Workers are stationed at various points around the racetrack and are responsible for observing and monitoring track conditions and communicating with drivers by using flags to warn of track conditions and provide assistance in case of any collisions, accidents or track problems.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide consistent information to drivers using racing flags and signals.
• Observe, monitor and assess track surface conditions.
• Observe competitors for driving behavior and their cars mechanical condition.
• May be called to assist during an accident.
• Communicate information to Race Control, stewards, Operations, and emergency medical responders.

Required skills/experience:

• High school diploma/GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Racing knowledge.
• Bilingual, native in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and radio communication skills.
• Willingness to work days, nights, weekend, occasional holidays, and special events.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all non‑life‑threatening weather conditions (heat, cold, light rain, etc.).
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must attend mandatory annual training and complete required online training initially and annually.
