Job summary

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of quantity food preparation and serving techniques.
• One year satisfactory cooking experience in a large volume food service operation or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations.
• Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work Minimum of 12 hours usually scheduled to work 15-25 hours per week on average

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food items such as vegetables, rice, potatoes, grains, and legumes for Kellogg Center banquet functions.
• Plates vegetables and starches on individual serving dishes for banquet functions.
• Prepares daily food selections for employee break room.
• Obtains ingredients and replenishes supplies to meet requirements.
• Oversees and assists in maintaining proper food handling techniques to prevent waste and spoilage.
• Taste tests food items and finishes dishes for serving.
• Cleans and maintains food preparation equipment and work areas.
• Assists production cooks and trains support employees in food preparation and serving techniques.
• Sets up serving lines and prepares basic ingredients for cooking.
