Job summary

Kellogg Center is seeking Support Cooks to prepare ingredients for line cooks on the Banquet/Event crew, handling meals for conferences and catering. The role includes offsite catering prep and a starting wage of $19.46 per hour.

The position runs 40 hours weekly and ends in nine months, with renewal possible based on need. Some lifting and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, are expected.

Qualifications

• One year cooking experience in a large-volume operation.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Personal hygiene standards per sanitation rules and regulations.
• Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients for dishes to be served.
• Chop and peel vegetables, fruits, and meats as necessary.
• Measure and weigh ingredients to ensure accuracy in recipes.
• Prepare sauces, marinades, and dressings.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment, including knives and cutting boards.
• Ensure that all ingredients are properly stored to maintain freshness and quality.
• Assist line cooks and other kitchen staff as needed.
• Follow food safety regulations and procedures to prevent contamination and foodborne illnesses.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines.
