Job summary

Howard Community College’s Horowitz Center seeks a part-time technician to support events, manage AV, lighting, and computer equipment, and handle setup and teardown. The role is part of a rolling pool for available positions.

The Technician ensures safety per fire codes, assists with stage prep, runs lighting/audio consoles during events, and returns the venue to its original state after each use, working with the Production Electrician as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with theatrical lighting and professional audio systems.
• Familiarity with video/projection equipment and digital audio consoles.
• Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems; knowledge of MS Office.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work at heights (catwalks).

Responsibilities

• Sweep and/or mop the stage in preparation for events.
• Set up chairs, music stands, lecterns, and push pianos on/offstage.
• Prepare lighting and audio stage setups for events.
• Run lighting and/or audio consoles during events.
• Focus special lighting for events.
• Return venue to original state after event completion.
• Assist Production Electrician with light hang and focus.
• Other duties as assigned.
