Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) for a 6-month contract at High Desert State Prison in Susanville, CA. Evening shifts Fri–Tue, 1:45 PM–10:15 PM, with a 30‑minute meal break. Orientation lasts 2 weeks, Mon–Fri 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.

Active California RN license (BRN) or BVNPT, current BLS, and relevant healthcare experience are preferred. A background check and security clearance are required before placement.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (BRN) or LPT license (BVNPT) required.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• Correctional, behavioral health or acute care experience preferred.
• Background check and facility security clearance required.
• TB test and immunizations and facility health clearances may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing or psychiatric technician care to patients within scope of license.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document accurately.
• Monitor patients, record vital signs and report changes.
• Support clinic flow, sick call and provider visits.
• Follow safety, security and contraband procedures.
