Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) for a 6-month contract at High Desert State Prison in Susanville, CA. Day shifts run Wednesday through Sunday, 5:45 AM to 2:15 PM, with a 30-minute meal break and a 2-week orientation.

Responsibilities include nursing or psychiatric technician care, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and supporting clinic flow and provider visits.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (BRN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician license (BVNPT)
• Current BLS (AHA) certification
• Correctional, behavioral health or acute care experience preferred
• Background check and facility security clearance
• TB test, immunizations and facility health clearances

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing or psychiatric technician care to patients within scope of license
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document accurately
• Monitor patients, take vital signs and report changes in condition
• Support clinic flow, sick call and provider visits
• Follow all safety, security and contraband procedures
