St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City is seeking a Scheduler Operating Room for evening shifts to input surgical cases, build the daily schedule, and coordinate with surgeon offices using CPCS system policies.

Qualifications

• One year computer skills and medical terminology preferred.
• Background in medical terminology and surgical procedures.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Previous OR experience strongly desired.
• Medical Scheduling experience preferred.
• Must have Medical Office Experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgery scheduling with physician offices and represent hospital teams professionally.
• Communicate inpatient admit numbers to the Patient Access Coordinator.
• Coordinate anesthesia assignments between OR, SMOPS, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, and other offices.
• Coordinate with radiology for rad techs and c-arm coverage.
• Link the appropriate preference cards to scheduled procedures.
• Enter data accurately in CPCS system.
• Formulate daily surgery schedule according to scheduling policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, physicians, surgeons and offices.
• Notify departments of schedule changes, additions and cancellations.
• Provide printed schedules to appropriate parties at designated times.
• Verify inpatient-only cases are appropriately scheduled.
• Work with vendors for acquisition of special equipment, implants and supplies per request.
