Job summary

Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston seeks a Youth & Community Arts Assistant to support the Yawkey Club of Roxbury Boys & Girls Club arts program. The position collaborates with MassArt staff and Club partners to provide after-school arts activities for youth ages 6–12.

Hired student will assist program staff 4:00 pm–8:00 pm, 4–10 hours per week, at $15 per hour, with supervision from MassArt's CACP and Yawkey Club.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of visual arts techniques including digital illustration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience or interest in youth work and art education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in working with youth ages 6-12 in arts programming.
• Help run after-school and weeknight programs (4-10 hours/week, 6-8 pm).
• Provide one-on-one instruction for artworks for end-of-year showcases.
• Maintain and secure materials and keep the program area safe and clean.
• Supervise members and support staff during programs.
