Evening & Weekend Library Services Assistant

Job summary

The University of Central Missouri Library Services is seeking an outgoing, reliable graduate student to support library operations during evenings and weekends. You will assist at the Information Desk and with opening/closing duties on a rotating schedule.

As part of the Client Services team, you will help patrons navigate resources, answer questions by phone or email, and ensure confidentiality of patron information in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be a current UCM graduate student.
• Available to work evenings, late nights and weekends.
• Familiarity with Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal systems preferred.
• Able to handle materials up to 40 lbs (books and supplies).
• Customer service experience and prior library experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patrons at the Information Desk with checking materials in and out using the library’s automated circulation system.
• Sorting and organizing library materials for re-shelving and guiding patrons to resources.
• Supporting WEPA printing and answering related questions.
• Redirecting phone calls and inquiries to the appropriate library or campus departments.
• Accurately recording statistical and usage data.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of patron information in accordance with library policy.
• Assisting patrons during emergencies (e.g., severe weather, power outages, etc.).
• Reporting facility, safety, or service concerns to the Client Services Manager.
