Job summary

Bethesda Senior Living Communities looking for a dedicated Chef/Cook for full-time evenings and weekends to serve residents in a senior living setting. You will cook meals according to established recipes and menus, and help create menus that meet nutritional needs and resident preferences.

You will maintain sanitary kitchen practices, manage daily meal service, and support the Culinary Services Director in planning special meals.

Qualifications

• Must read, comprehend, and follow recipes and procedures.
• Health certification as required by local/state/federal health departments.
• Knowledge of geriatric dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Cooks meals according to established recipes and menus.
• Assists Culinary Services Director in creating menus that meet residents' nutritional needs.
• Presents meals that are pleasing to the eye and palate.
• Sets up kitchen and preps for each day’s menu, preps for next day.
• Cleans dishes, floors, walls and kitchen equipment maintaining sanitary guidelines.
• Maintains an organized, clean storeroom, coolers, and kitchen.
• Assists in planning and cooking of special meals.
• Maintains proper temperatures of steam table, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer.
• Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information.
• Maintains a professional appearance and positive environment.
• Ensures adequate daily coverage for meal service.
