Job summary

Stormont Vail Health seeks a Surgical Technologist for second shift (evenings). The role involves preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting surgeons, and ensuring patient safety across multiple service lines.

Requires an accredited Surgical Technologist program degree and at least 6 months of OR experience or equivalent education. Non-exempt, 36 hours per week, with an emphasis on teamwork and cost-conscious care.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a Surgical Technologist program required.
• 6 months surgical tech experience in lieu of education required.
• Certification preferred (AST or NBSTSA).

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure as per preference card.
• Maintains sterile technique and reports any compromise promptly.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to patient entry.
• Assists surgeon by handing instruments, retractors, sutures during operation.
• Performs counts with RN Circulator before incision and before closure.
• Places sterile dressings after surgery and helps position patient.
