Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Maplewood, MN, seeks a Surgical Aide for 0.8 FTE evening shifts (2:30 PM–11:00 PM), Monday–Friday with rotating weekends. You will support the surgical team, transport patients, prepare equipment, and assist in room turnover under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include transporting patients to OR, assisting with transfers and positioning, maintaining OR readiness, and ensuring proper handling of meds and IV solutions per state and federal rules.

Qualifications

• Understands basic aseptic technique.
• Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from the operating room.
• Assists with patient transfers on and off the operating room table and with positioning.
• Assists with operating room turnover between cases.
• Gathers operating room equipment and positioning devices as needed and returns them to storage.
• Restocks basic operating room and anesthesia supplies.
• Accesses medications or IV solutions only as required to perform normal duties, complying with regulations.
• Stages team case carts and equipment as directed.
• Checks and records anesthesia refrigerator temperature and reports discrepancies.
• Maintains compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Participates in creating and implementing improvements.
