Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Maple Grove, MN, is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the Ambulatory Surgery Center team. This 1.0 FTE role supports pediatric to geriatric care across procedures in a four-OR facility, with day shifts Monday–Friday.

The candidate assists in sterile techniques, instrument handling, and specimen processing while collaborating closely with RNs to ensure efficient, safe patient care. A strong background in surgical tech and BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved Surgical Technology program.
• BLS for health care providers.
• 2 years of experience working as a surgical technologist.
• Must be available to work Monday-Friday, day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scrub person during operative/endo procedures.
• Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide appropriate instruments, sutures, and specialty items.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout all sterile procedures.
• Assist in the proper identification and handling of specimens.
• Ensure accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts are completed.
• Act promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Adjust care to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the patient population.
• Communicate respectfully and maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Engage in patient education as needed, based on an assessment of patient and caregiver learning needs.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
• Participate in fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
