ChristianaCare is hiring a Part-time Specimen Processing Technician in Newark, NJ. The role supports testing of specimens in the General Laboratory with a 20-hour workweek, mainly day shift (7:00am–3:30pm) and alternate weekends.

Typical duties include processing, labeling, prioritizing, and communicating specimen needs. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference for two years of clinical lab experience or related health care coursework.

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Part-time Specimen Processing Technician. The work hours are:

Part-time Day Shif t

• 20 hours per week
• 7:00am - 3:30pm and every other weekend 6:30am - 3:00pm
• 2-3 holidays per year

In this role you will perform pre and post analytical functions that support the testing of specimens received in the General Laboratory.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years applicable clinical experience working in a lab environment with specimens or equivalent college courses in the health care field preferred

Hourly Pay Range: $19.48 - $28.24

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
