Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician for the General Laboratory. The role runs evenings (3:00pm–11:30pm), with every other weekend and 2–3 holidays per year.

Responsibilities include processing, labeling, prioritizing specimens, and communicating priorities to testing personnel. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required, or a high school diploma with at least five years of specimen processing experience.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory setting preferred.

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to work in the General Laboratory. The work hours are evening shift, Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm. This position requires every other weekend and 2-3 holidays per year.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips


• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens


• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times


• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required or a High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from similar hospital system.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.48 - $28.24

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
