Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician for the General Laboratory. The role runs evenings (3:00pm–11:30pm), with every other weekend and 2–3 holidays per year.

Responsibilities include processing, labeling, prioritizing specimens, and communicating priorities to testing personnel. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required, or a high school diploma with at least five years of specimen processing experience.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
• Print and affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
• Prioritize work to meet stated turnaround times for stat testing
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel on delivery
