Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Crete, IL is seeking a Microbiology Technician to prepare samples, document procedures, and support pathogen testing using LIMS. You will weigh, label, and process samples, and maintain strict safety and quality standards in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

The role requires an HS Diploma with 1+ year related experience, ability to work Tue-Sat 2 PM shifts, and willingness to handle diverse laboratory tasks.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work.
• Knowledge of science to perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results.
• Basic computer knowledge to accurately enter testing data and results.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Write identification onto plates so client and sample number can be tracked.
• Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed.
• Pour the agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
• Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified time and temperature.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS to complete job responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Perform housekeeping duties and keep work areas clean and sanitized.
