Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Everett, WA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) to perform all phases of laboratory testing from pre-analytic to post-analytic, supporting accurate diagnoses and high-quality patient care. The role includes an evening shift, strict quality control, instrument maintenance, and training of staff, with rotating weekends.

A Bachelor's degree and national MT/MLS certification are required, with at least one year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a nationally recognized agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT, AAB).
• 1+ years of experience as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (preferred).
• Knowledge of laboratory terminology, testing techniques, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Evaluate laboratory results meticulously and address discrepancies.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; ensure instrument maintenance.
• Demonstrate knowledge of testing techniques and medical terminology; communicate with medical staff.
• Monitor supplies and report low inventory levels.
• Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, and QC activities.
• Provide training and guidance to new laboratory staff or students.
