Job summary

Grace is seeking a Second Shift Maintenance Mechanic for our Chicago site. The role focuses on installing and maintaining chemical processes, including piping, equipment and pumps, with routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for 24/7 operations.

The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and requires reading blueprints and working with I/E on motors, pumps, and actuators. Hazards and PPE are part of daily duties, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical environment.
Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities and hands-on experience.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and understand units of measure (English and Metric).
Able to work in high/angled spaces and around hazardous materials with proper PPE.

Responsibilities

Install and maintain chemical processes, piping, equipment and pumps.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders for adjustments or repairs.
Perform preventive, corrective, and precision maintenance on mechanical equipment.
Collaborate with I/E on motors, actuators, pumps, valves and controls.
Operate forklifts and scissor lifts; maintain a clean, safe work area.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability.
