Job summary

Forward Air Corporation seeks a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, and move freight in a busy multimodal terminal in Humble, TX. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, document cargo movements with scanners, and adhere to safety policies.

The role supports dock productivity and freight integrity, often mentoring new Material Handlers and solving operational issues on the floor. Schedule 1 is evenings, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices and systems.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and observe PPE standards.
• Train, mentor, and support development of other Material Handlers.
