Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Humble, TX is seeking an experienced Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to load, unload, and move freight in a fast-paced dock environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, ensuring accuracy and safety.

The role requires 3+ years in dock/warehouse work, forklift certification, and strong English communication. Expect night shifts, physical demanding tasks, and opportunities to mentor newer associates while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification/Licensure: Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Numerical: Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for documentation integrity.
