Job summary

The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support Plant Operations on the 1405 Shady Ave campus. You will perform maintenance, engineering, and security tasks under the Director of Plant Operations, applying building trades knowledge and PM practices.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with trades experience, and the ability to join weekend/on-call rotations. Monday–Friday, 11:30am–8pm shift, full-time position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
• Three years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or related trades strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Preventive Maintenance/Work Order, Energy Control, Fire Alarm systems and automated control applications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs, and renovates plant and facilities.
• Constructs and installs equipment and building systems.
• Performs semi-skilled and skilled work across crafts (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
• Maintains HVAC, sterilizers, laundry, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
• Responds to emergency problems and performs repairs as needed.
• Supports security team in emergencies and routine operations.
• Keeps logs, performs rounds, and completes work orders and inspections.
• Responds to fire alarms and security incidents.
• May participate in weekend/on-call rotations.
