Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX is seeking a qualified clinical laboratory professional. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or MLS, with 1+ year of lab testing experience or an MLS degree.

Preferred candidates may have Labcorp experience and ASCP/AMT certification. Responsibilities include specimen acceptability, performing tests, instrument troubleshooting, QA/QC, and safe, accurate reporting of results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• Current or prior Labcorp experience (preferred).
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE as required.
