Job summary

Friends of Switchpoint Inc seeks a Shelter Shift Lead to oversee daily shelter operations for individuals, families, and veterans experiencing homelessness in St. George, UT.

This full-time role covers a swing shift (4:00 pm - 12:00 am) and includes client screenings, intakes, documentation, medication oversight, and volunteer supervision. The Shift Lead provides crisis intervention, safety planning, and de-escalation, upholds confidentiality, and ensures accurate communications and logs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Human Services or a similar field.
• Previous experience working with the homeless population in a shelter environment is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
• Exhibits a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting.
• Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shelter operations and support individuals, families, and veterans experiencing homelessness.
• Lead shift activities including client screenings, intakes, admissions, documentation, room checks, chore coordination, medication oversight, and volunteer supervision.
• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, de-escalation support, and enforce guidelines and boundaries.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure accurate communication logs and incident reporting.
• Collaborate with site director and staff to ensure consistency and quality of service.
• Supervise staff, train team members, and ensure proper scheduling and coverage for shifts.
• Recordkeeping: incident reports, daily logs, and reporting of issues to Site Director.
