Job summary

Hope House, a Preble Street low-barrier shelter located in Bangor, Maine, provides shelter and intensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work best practices. The Hope House Shelter Navigator maintains safety, supports crisis intervention, and assists with daily living skills, reporting, and data collection as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Preble Street mission and harm reduction.
• Positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty.
• Knowledge of low-barrier services and related challenges.
• Ability to establish and maintain boundaries with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety of Hope House residents and provide crisis intervention.
• Support daily living skills and case management activities during shifts.
• Document, report and collect information as required for program goals.
