Job summary

Pine Street Inn is seeking an Evening Counselor to oversee participant safety and daily living activities at 414 Harrison Avenue, Boston. This on-site role requires providing meals, guiding ADL support, and coordinating activities during the evening shift from 2:15 PM to 11:15 PM.

The program follows Housing First/Safe Haven models. You will collaborate with staff to develop treatment plans, document progress, and help participants achieve daily functioning in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• MAP certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in shelter, community residence, or inpatient setting.
• Experience maintaining a safe environment for clients.
• Experience as a human services team member.
• Familiarity with rehabilitation and consumer empowerment concepts.
• Experience with dually diagnosed individuals.
• Experience assisting people with ADL skills.
• Comfort with a harm-reduction approach to substance abuse.
• Effective writing and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall safety of participants.
• Assist participants in obtaining dinner and daily living activities.
• Engage participants in leisure activities and run groups.
• Create a respectful atmosphere that supports recovery and functioning.
• Assign participants and develop treatment plans; ensure follow-through and document progress.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, kitchens, hallways, bathrooms, and participant rooms.
