Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer in New York, NY to deliver professional, customer-focused life safety services. You will greet visitors, monitor entrances, patrol assigned areas, respond to incidents, and assist guests while enforcing site policies.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid security guard license, reliable transportation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must hold state or municipal security officer licenses.
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within a reasonable period.
• Reliable means of communication and transportation required.
• Strong interpersonal communication and professional appearance.
• Prior contract security, law enforcement, military or customer service experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professionalism and assist customers, employees, visitors and guests.
• Maintain a visible security presence in the assigned facility.
• Monitor environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Know building policies; enforce them within role limits.
• Greet and assist customers and guests politely.
• Answer phones professionally and document incidents.
• Control access of authorized persons and monitor entrances/exits.
• Conduct patrols on foot or in vehicle as required.
• Observe departing personnel to prevent loss and ensure proper removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures; monitor alarms.
• Prepare accurate reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
