Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer for a part-time Chicago site who can deliver professional, customer-focused security and life-safety services. The role requires a visible security presence, strong communication, and adherence to site policies.

Responsibilities include monitoring alarms, assisting visitors, inspecting entrances, and documenting incidents with clear, timely reports. Salary is hourly with benefits and a weekend schedule. US-IL-Chicago location.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses - PERC Card and 20 Hour Security Training Certificate.
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat and professional appearance.
• Write routine log entries and incident reports.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military or customer service experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence in the assigned facility.
• Monitor environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
• Greet people professionally and answer phones.
• Permit authorized persons to enter and monitor entrances/exits.
• Enforce facility policies within role limits.
• Perform patrols on foot or in vehicle.
• Observe personnel to prevent theft and ensure authorized removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and monitor alarms.
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
