Job summary

Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is seeking an RN Supervisor to lead nursing staff, schedule tasks, and guide patient care within a residential treatment setting for children and teens. The role includes direct patient care and adherence to nursing processes within a holistic framework.

Evening shift (02:45pm-11:15pm) with rotating weekends/holidays; requires Virginia RN licensure and supervisory capability. Sign-on bonus of $10,000 and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing; RN, AD, or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN/MSN preferred.
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred; one-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, residential treatment, clinical science/pathology and psychiatric disorders.
• Ability to gather and analyze data; articulate and communicate with families, payers, therapists and physicians.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
• Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with strong leadership.
• Proficiency with computer systems and software including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Responds to emotional, social and physical needs of the patient.
• Implements emergency use of seclusion and restraints.
• Ensures quality patient care.
• Documents patient information.
• Staffs assigned units.
• Provides leadership and supervision for the infirmary and all units.
• Plans patient treatment.
• Intervenes psychotherapeutically with patients.
• Intervenes with patient psychopharmacology and physiological needs.
• Supports and interprets facility and department objectives and goals.
• Ensures service excellence delivery.
