Job summary

Alternative Services – Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Instructor to supervise consumers daily and support program operations in a safe, fun environment. You will implement agency policies for safety and welfare, document progress, and coordinate within the home and with staff.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, 2+ years in developmental disabilities, a valid driver’s license, and ability to lift 75 lbs. CPR/First Aid and DDS medication certification are obtainable after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dually diagnosed; education may substitute years.
• Valid driver’s license and insured; travel may be required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/PMT and DDS State Medication Administration certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and intervene physically as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor consumer behavior and implement behavior management programs; document on forms.
• Log shift activities and incidents in Therap; provide reports as required.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and supervision of the home; conduct safety inspections and minor repairs.
• Know and follow agency policies, including medication administration and emergency procedures.
• Distribute medications according to schedules and DDS guidelines.
• Provide activities and supervision for consumers during shifts; engage with home and group homes.
