Job summary

The Fortune Society in New York, NY is seeking a Residential Aide Shift Supervisor for The Academy (West Harlem) in the Housing unit. You will oversee daily shift operations, supervise Residential Aides, and coordinate with the RA Director to maintain safety and professional standards.

What you’ll do includes supervising staff, coordinating scheduling, onboarding, performance reviews, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
FDNY Fire Guard (F-02) and/or Fire Safety and Alarm Coordinator (F80) certification required.
CPR, First Aid, Fire Guard, Narcan certification a plus.
Experience in institutional settings (shelters, housing, security) preferred.
Experience with homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health populations desired.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with The Fortune Society operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day supervision to Residential Aide staff during the shift.
Coordinate with the RA Director to ensure shift responsibilities are met daily.
Schedule development, coverage plans, and staff assignments to maintain staffing levels.
Conduct six-month reviews and annual performance evaluations for staff.
Onboard, train, and mentor new hires; lead regular supervision meetings.
Respond to emergencies and ensure timely communication across shifts.
On-call 24/7 to address emergencies and incidents.
