Job summary

Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs in Bemidji seeks a part-time Resident Assistant to support residents' needs, assist with limited personal care, provide companionship, help with meal service, snack preparation, and activity support in a nursing home setting. The role requires evening shifts from 5:00 p.m.

to 9:00 p.m., with days varying and every other weekend, and includes a $20.87–$22.79 hourly wage plus $2.25 shift differential for hours after 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Ability to serve food in accordance with all pertinent safety and health regulations, guidelines and standards.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and engage with residents in group and one-on-one activities.
• Knowledge of the aging process and related conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, read and follow instructions, and keep simple records.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents in social activities and with their personal interests. Help create opportunities for social interactions, personal routines, and exercise within the resident community.
• Serve food in a clean, cheerful environment to help build connections and a sense of community.
• Develop household customs and rituals by facilitating household‑related activities.
