Job summary

Intermountain Health in Hurricane, Utah, is seeking an Enhanced Registrar to register patients across multiple service lines and gather comprehensive demographic, financial, and clinical information. The role emphasizes accurate data input, regulatory documentation, and effective communication with patients.

The position offers evening/night/weekend shift differentials, a 4:30pm–11pm schedule (Mon–Thu), and a benefits-eligible environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of customer service experience within the last five years.
• Negotiation or collection experience within the last three years.
• Experience working effectively in time sensitive situations, multi-tasking and making prompt, responsible decisions.
• Demonstrated typing proficiency.
• Experience using basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
• Registration experience on Tandem or iCentra.
• Data entry or clerical experience in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Verifies accuracy of EMPI link and identifies and reports possible linking problems and Identity Theft.
• Gathers, verifies, and inputs patient demographic, insurance, and essential admission information accurately.
• Registers for multiple service lines within a facility.
• Explains and provides legal documents per regulatory requirements (Advance Directives, MSP, HIPAA notices, etc.).
• Completes financial screening to identify potential funding sources.
• Conducts financial discussions using contracts to collect copays/deposits and arrange payments.
• Coordinates with physician offices, clinical staff, and patients on out-of-network issues to maximize insurance benefits.
• Responds to patient questions regarding billing and provides way-finding as needed.
• Maintains quality and productivity stats for the position.
• May lead and/or train new employees; may perform cashiering and hospital reception duties.
• Cross-trains to cover shifts in other departments; holiday coverage may include the ED.
• Problem-solves with patients and staff to ensure complete registration and smooth check-in processes.
• Works admitting reports and Case Mix errors as assigned.
