Job summary

Specialty Foods Group, LLC, an Owensboro-based pork processor and packager, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the evening shift. The role focuses on reducing downtime and performing preventative and corrective maintenance in a world-class facility.

Responsibilities include monitoring refrigeration and boiler systems, recording readings, performing routine inspections, and ensuring repairs are completed promptly.

Qualifications

• Required maintenance aptitude and ability to pass a maintenance test.
• Electrical knowledge is required for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills for logging data and reading specs.
• Must pass Hazmat certification (including physical).
• Mechanical and plumbing skills for equipment upkeep, repair, and installation.
• Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.
• Commitment to following safety policies and procedures.
• Willingness to complete Confined Space training.
• Certificate of completion in operators #1 ammonia is required.

Responsibilities

• Check readings from refrigeration compressors, air compressors, water supply pressure, boiler pressure, and record findings.
• Take boiler water samples for testing and record results.
• Monitor boiler water feed temperatures and take corrective actions when needed.
• Review supervisor repair lists and ensure repairs are completed.
• Repair equipment as needed and inspect for issues.
• Perform hourly checks on water, temperature, and air pressures.
• Record midday readings of refrigeration equipment and plant temperatures.
• Record and monitor temperatures in all areas and coolers.
• Conduct preventative maintenance in engine rooms and clean boiler rooms daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
