Job summary

Park District of La Grange seeks a part-time Manager on Duty (MOD) to supervise patrons, renters and staff during evening and weekend shifts at the Recreation Center in La Grange, IL. You will greet guests, assist with registrations, ensure proper setup for programs, and enforce district policies while maintaining a positive environment.

The MOD position emphasizes high-quality customer service, accountability, and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation, hospitality, business or related field preferred.
• Must be able to supervise staff and oversee facility operations in the absence of full-time management.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons & renters in a friendly and welcoming manner and direct them where needed.
• Be familiar with the day/night’s schedule for the Recreation Center.
• Set up rooms and event signage according to needs; front desk signs the boards.
• Lock/unlock rooms for programs & rentals; monitor end times and reminders.
• Act as primary contact for building when no full-time staff is present.
• Respond to staff requests and maintain good contact with renters.
