Job summary

The Whatcom Family YMCA's early learning program at Millworks in Bellingham, WA is seeking a part-time Closing Preschool Teacher for the transitional Preschool classroom (ages 2.5 to young 3). The role requires a Monday-Friday 3:00-6:30 pm schedule with occasional breaks and light end-of-day tasks to maintain a clean, organized classroom.

Responsibilities include supervising 17 children with a supportive Lead Teacher, implementing a play-based, social-emotional curriculum, and engaging families

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate.
• CPR (Adult, Infant & Child) and First Aid, AED certifications.
• Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire.
• STARS 30 Hour Childcare Basic Training within 3 months of hire.
• Negative TB Test
• HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen training
• Safe Sleep
• MERIT ID account
• Food Handlers Card
• Cleared Portable Background Check from MERIT
• MMR Immunization Record
• Willingness to obtain the ECE initial certificate or equivalent (approximately 12 credits).

Responsibilities

• Supervises the children, classroom, and all program activities.
• Follows procedures and standards; maintains site, equipment and records.
• Works with Lead Teacher to engage children in play-based curriculum.
• Promotes social-emotional development and environment awareness.
• Communicates with parents about child progress and needs.
• Documents for child assessment and portfolios.
• Attends family nights, trainings and staff meetings.
• Performs daily cleaning and sanitizing of the classroom.
