Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is hiring a Poison Center Specialist to provide telephone-based information to healthcare professionals and the public about poison exposures. The role includes gathering histories, assessing severity, recommending treatment, and referring patients as needed.

The position supports training students and colleagues, with flexible scheduling including nights, weekends and holidays. RN license and ADN/ Diploma are required with at least two years of nursing experience or one year

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a patient-care setting, or one year as poison information provider in a poison center.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• ADN or Nursing Diploma required (minimum qualification).

Responsibilities

• Provide informational assistance by telephone to health care professionals and consumers about poison exposures.
• Obtain complete histories and assess poisoning severity, make treatment recommendations.
• Refer patients to health care facilities and contact providers with recommendations.
• Train and mentor students and colleagues as a clinical information resource.
